Patent for invention № 2520697

Scope of use

The invention relates to direct contact irrigation refrigerators, in particular cooling towers, and can be used in many industries requiring cooling of heated water in the circulation circuit with atmospheric air.

Prior art

Known is a fan or tower cooling tower selected as a prototype of the claimed invention, containing a drainage basin of chilled water and a vertical body installed above it above the water level on supports, open from the bottom to intake atmospheric air and from above to exit the steam-air mixture, as well as irrigation located inside the body, water-distributing and droplet-collecting device (RU28537, F28C 1/02, 2002 - [1]). The disadvantages of the cooling tower [1] include significant quantitative losses of water (working fluid of the circulating system) with the air-vapor mixture emitted into the atmosphere. Moreover, this emitted environment has a negative impact on the operation of open switchgears (OSG) of the power plant located near the cooling tower. It also becomes necessary to increase the make-up of the evaporative recycle cooling system. A cloud of wet fog over the cooling tower adversely affects the microclimate in the area of the power plant. The presence of a drop catcher in the cooling tower, according to [1], does not eliminate the indicated disadvantages, since it traps only droplet moisture, and the vapor-air mixture freely passes through it into the atmosphere.
